Active since March 1, as planned, the Digital One-stop shop for productive activities in the  “Zona Economica Speciale -ZES”  ( Special Economic Zone) , called “Sportello Unico Digitale ZES S.U.D ZES “ ( Digital Single Desk SEZ): the tool  will ensure the revitalization of productive activities in the South of Italy’s Special Economic Zone  which was established on January 1, 2024.

The SEZ includes about 2,550 municipalities in eight regions of southern Italy: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia.

The Web portal, set up at the “Struttura di missione ZES “  (SEZ Dedicated Unit of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, has been operational since yesterday for all the new territories that are part of the “single SEZ” and is the single interface for the submission of applications for single authorization according to a simplified procedure, aimed at business projects related to new investments or concerning business development that are located in southern Italy.

Yesterday, on the first day of operation,18 applications were already received  through the strutturazes.gov.it portal, including one“ richiesta di autorizzazione unica “ (single authorization request)  and 17  “ comunicazioni preventive “  (prior communications, aimed at a preliminary examination of the initiatives that the economic operator intends to present, in order to establish a point of contact with the SEZ Dedicated Unit ).  The 18 applications came from the following regions: 1 from Abruzzo , 5 from Campania , 11 from  Molise and 1from   Sicily.

There are more than 200 files for the issuance of the single permit that have not been concluded by the 8 extraordinary commissioners, which are now the responsibility of the SEZ Dedicated Unit. Precisely in order to allow for a preliminary verification of these dossiers, a brief suspension of the deadlines for the conclusion of the relevant procedures was provided for in the PNRR ( National Recovery and Resilience Plan ) decree-law to be published today in the Gazzetta Ufficiale.

Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the PNRR, Raffaele Fitto, issued the following statement, "I express satisfaction with an important result, demonstrating the full, timely and effective operation of the new SEZ Dedicated Unit established at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Finally, all entrepreneurs interested in investing in any area of the South will be able to take advantage of single authorizations through a simplified tool connected with all municipalities in the South. A significant journey for the competitive revival of the South begins."
